Pray-ers,
"Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you. You show love to thousands but bring the punishment for the fathers' sins into the laps of their children after them. O great and powerful God, whose name is the LORD Almighty, great are your purposes and mighty are your deeds. Your eyes are open to all the ways of men; you reward everyone according to his conduct and as his deeds deserve." Jeremiah 32: 17-19
During the time of Holy Week, it seemed like I had so many things begging for my time and my thoughts. It almost seemed more appropriate to call it un-Holy Week or cluttered mind week. Thankfully though, despite my impure thoughts, despite my un-kept promises, despite my brilliant thoughts that I never followed through on, despite my deliberate actions to please myself and forget about the needs of others, much less think of God; God still chose to do the unthinkable, unimaginable, undeservable, and unbelievable, He chose to give the life of His son Jesus, so that I may live, not only now, but for eternity.
Even though Holy Week may be gone, we don’t want to forget the new lives that made a decision to follow Christ for the first time, or the many who re-committed their life to God and to put off the ‘thing’ that keeps them from doing so.
Sunday April 27th kicks off the 9th year of the Bowie PrayerWalk. It continues to be my desire to see the community of Bowie to be known for it's love for one another. That people of all colors, races, languages, and faiths, would work together. We frequently read stories on crime, health concerns, safety, poor schools, lack of jobs, costs of living increases - despite all of this, I believe Bowie is a great city because of having great people. "May we not become weary of doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." Galatians 6:9,10
With this in mind, I welcome each of you all to join me in praying for not only one another, but for our community as a whole. I believe prayer is vital in changing the thoughts, the behaviors, the decisions, and the outcomes to be more aligned with the Kingdom of God. I am requesting that you help support our ministry but allowing us to provide weekly inserts in your bulletin or you can simply incorporate our schedule yourself. It is my desire to see families of Bowie to come out particularly during the week we are in their home or the home of their church.
I have attached a sample insert you can place in your church bulletin. In addition, please check out our improved website -www.turnonthelight-bowie.org for PrayerWalk reports and other important community information. Thanks for your prayers and making a difference in our city.
In Christ,
Tom
